This problem also exists when running grub on 12.1 (tested x86) and 11.4
(tested x86-64).
To reproduce:
boot the respective rescue system
mount rootfs /mnt
mount --rbind /dev /mnt/dev
chroot /mnt
mount /proc
mount /sys
grub
Bus error
This is actually a pain - no boot loader, nothing doing, while finding another
computer to google the problem. Rescue system and grub used to be reliable :-(
Limiting the stack size for a
grub --batch < /etc/grub.conf
is required in all cases it seems (and one has to know that first).
