https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=744053 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=744053#c0 Summary: Kernel modules from OBS driver:wireless outdated Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ulfie_monster@arcor.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.19) Gecko/20110420 SUSE/2.0.14-0.2.1 SeaMonkey/2.0.14 After installation of kernel packages 2.6.37.6-0.11.1 from update repo, WLAN (here: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5100 AGN, but probably valid for many other WLAN adapters) became unusable. This could be tracked down to kernel module packages from openSUSE Build Service at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/driver:/wireless/11.4-update/ which according to their version numbers were made for the previous kernel update. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 11.4 and update kernel to 2.6.37.6-0.9.1 2. Install wireless kernel module package from aforementioned OBS repo. 3. Update kernel to 2.6.37.6-0.11.1 Actual Results: No more WLAN :-( Expected Results: WLAN should work :-) Probably can be fixed by recompiling packages in build service. Might have failed to occur automatically because (as strings!) "0.11.1" < "0.9.1". Temporary fix is to back out packages from build service (which might mean loosing functionality added to recent upstream sources used for build service packages!). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
