https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=738552 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=738552#c0 Summary: Hyper-V & openSUSE 12.1, hv_netvsc is not Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tbullock@comlore.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=468916) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=468916) dmesg output User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:9.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/9.0.1 The hv_netvsc module does not appear to be loading properly (or something to that regard). Running a fresh install of 12.1 on Hyper-V R2 and am not seeing the network interface when I run ifconfig. Although looking at the results of dmesg, the driver is definitely loaded as per: [ 16.434229] hv_netvsc: module is from the staging directory, the quality is unknown, you have been warned. [ 16.435556] hv_vmbus: registering driver hv_netvsc [ 16.438904] hv_netvsc: hv_netvsc channel opened successfully [ 16.442199] hv_netvsc vmbus_0_7: Device MAC 00:15:5d:95:03:06 link state up However, ifconfig doesn't report any device with that MAC address, just the 'Legacy' adapter. I'm attaching the output of dmesg and below is the output of lsmod. Running 12.1/Tumbleweed with kernel-default Easy to work around with a 'legacy adapter', but nevertheless I'd like to support upstream in dealing with this.
