https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=734228 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=734228#c0 Summary: polkit rules and truecrypt Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Security AssignedTo: security-team@suse.de ReportedBy: dutchkind@txoriaskea.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/8.0 I use truecrypt already for some years on opensuse, have it set up with sudo so a normal user can mount truecrypt volumes. In my case only the ones that are member of created truecrypt group. Sudo set to as root with no password for truecrypt. This setup has always worked fine, but now on 12.1 I get, when the tc volumes is ALREADY mounted a popup from polkit asking me for a password for this rule: org.freedesktop.udisks.filesystem-mount-system-internal Sometimes the popup windows closes some instances after showing up without user action, sometimes I just click cancel, and everything works normal. Adding org.freedesktop.udisks.filesystem-mount-system-internal to polkit-default-privs.local with auth_admin:auth_admin:yes solves the problem, no more popups, but then a normal user can suddenly mount local partitions, an unwanted side effect. If I give the root password once, in the default configuration, at next boot it pops up again. I thought linux philosophy was to not bother the user when not needed. In this case this is an unnecessary popup since the truecrypt volume gets mounted anyway, so whatever choice user makes, the outcome is the same. What changed since 11.3 / 11.4?
