User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0)
With my hardware configuration (old ATI video card AGP HD 3650) openSUSE 12.1 RC2 only starts:
1) in fail safe mode 2) with nomodeset option
Given that other distributions (Fedora 16, Kubuntu, Chakra, etc. ..) do not have this considerable limitation (no 3D acceleration), think that this serious problem can be solved soon? Thank you for your attention John
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
More information. I tried to boot from the console OpenSuse 12.1 RC2. These findings: kde startup request display is not set or cannot connect to the xserver Startup request xstart fatal server error xauth: file /home/predieri/serverauth.2372 does not exist Fatal server error cannot move old file /var/log/xorg.0.log to /var/log/xorg.0.log.old xinit: giving up xinit: unable to connect to xserver: connection are refused xinit: server error xinit failed ./usd/bin/xorg is not setuid. May be that’s the reason is so either use a display manager or adjust /etc/permission.local I inform You that the other distros (which work on my configuration) use as video driver Mesa and Galium and not Mesa and radeonhd as Opensuse 12.1 RC2 -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
