I've no idea what exactly MALLOC_PERTURB_ is good for but for now it
is disabled as it does crash TeX programs trying to dump out a
format. I'd like to know if this also will breal e.g. GNU Emacs, or
XEmacs, or clisp.
From what I've found from the glibc manual/memory.texi

If non-zero, memory blocks are filled with values depending on some
low order bits of this parameter when they are allocated (except when
allocated by @code{calloc}) and freed. This can be used to debug the
use of uninitialized or freed heap memory.
