This is no longer the case. There is an error message in /var/log/messages telling: Sep 22 10:26:55 eik121m5 famd[2572]: can't register with portmapper. So apparently portmapper is now necessary. In openSUSE 11.4 this was not necessary. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
