Summary: More support for IPv6 parameters in YaST
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 12.1
Version: Milestone 5
Platform: Other
OS/Version: SuSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: P5 - None
Component: YaST2

The standard in openSUSE 12.1 M5 on privacy using IPv6 is now that each so many
minutes a new IPv6 source address will be generated and that stateless
autoconfiguration always will be used. A report has been seen that long
standing connections suffer from these settings. This requires more control on
these settings, which should be available in YaST, Network Devices, probably in
Global Options or more advanced both in Global Options and individual device
This is about YaST generating /etc/sysconfig/network/ifsysctl and
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifsysctl-<interface_name> defining the parameters
use_tempaddr and the one that controls the use of stateless autoconfiguration.

Obviously disabling stateless autoconfiguration should imply the use of a fixed
address or the use of DHCP6.

Reproducible: Always
