--- Comment #5 from Alexander Teterkin 2011-08-03 13:47:53 UTC ---
Hello,
I guess my problem is related.
I have Opensuse 11.4 64-bit on HP ProBook 5310m.
I can see the picture on my Samsung P2250 monitor (default resolution
1920x1080) but with maximum resolution 1440x900. There is no 1920x1080
resolution present at Monitor Preferences in Gnome.
I have tried the following:
------------------------------
linux-wgiv:~ # cvt 1920 1080 60
# 1920x1080 59.96 Hz (CVT 2.07M9) hsync: 67.16 kHz; pclk: 173.00 MHz
Modeline "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120
-hsync +vsync
linux-wgiv:~ # xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576
1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync
linux-wgiv:~ # xrandr --addmode DP1 1920x1080_60.00
linux-wgiv:~ # xrandr --output DP1 --mode 1920x1080_60.00
xrandr: Configure crtc 0 failed
-------------------------------------------------------------
But as you can see, I cannot use newly added resolution.
I have following in /var/log/messages:
Aug 3 19:16:38 linux-wgiv kernel: [ 1458.274802]
[drm:drm_crtc_helper_set_config] *ERROR* failed to set mode on [CRTC:3]

So looks like the driver gets info about 1920x1080 resolution, but does not
probing it.
P.S.: Sorry if I shouldn't be posting here. I am new to bugzilla.
