Thanks James. Interesting reading. I can replicate this bug just by opening
multiple gnome-terminal windows. Eventually one of them will exhibit the
problem. It is always one in the top left corner it seems, no matter how the
others are laid out. For example, I just did it with this browser window open
(and slightly right of center) and got the sequence top left (ok), bottom left
(ok), top left again (broken).
