--- Comment #4 from Jiří Suchomel
My issue is that there is absolutely NO logic in tying Keyboard to Language.
The current logic will only work with the US and UK People.
So, there is a logic. Yes, it works for US and UK only, but don't say there's 'absolutely NO logic'. And remember, there are also other languages than English, where it usually works well. It's true it does not work automatically for some, like Australian users. So they have to select their keyboard layout manually. (BTW, I have to do it myself when I am selecting Czech language and US keyboard). But we cannot please all users, so we decided to please some (we hope most); the way for the others is not really harder, it's just one more click in the initial screen.
I trust you have notes that after changing the language module to UK the keyboard changes to UK. The user needs to go back and then change back to a US Keyboard.
You do not have to 'go back' in any way. You have both selections at one page as seen in the attached screenshot. Yes, it would be an option to add "English (AU)" option, like you write in bug 656023. But this is what you write as well: "The list would go on for all the other English Commonwealth Countries - Canada- African Countries etc. up to about 65 or so." and that is a problem: adding more and more languages is adding more entropy and making the installation less usable for the other users. So I think it is correct decision to have automatic proposal which helps most users, while others just select differently. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
