I found that the xml file created during the process is incorrect. I see the following two lines in /etc/kvm/vm/my-vm.xml : <clock offset='utc'/> </clock> I found that the problem was in the file /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/vminstall/kvm_guest.py which belongs to the package "vm-install".
