https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687569 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=687569#c0 Summary: GNOME 3.0 - shell not restoring after re-login Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: rkrell@gmx.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=424962) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=424962) Some probably relevant session files in ~/.config the session fails to start up properly (removing gnome-session/ has been enough to restore properly) User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 Recently I installed the new Gnome 3.0 from the GNOME:/STABLE/3.0 repository. The first time I started it with the gnome-shell, which worked inthe first glimpse for me without deeper and longer testing. The problem I have with it is that the Gnome shell doesn't restore after logging out and in again. I get an empty Gnome background, just applications like Firefox and Thunderbird, which were running during logout popping up again, but there are no Gnome elements, bars, workspaces. I have to shutdown the X Server using CTRL-ALT-Backspace to get out from there back to the login manager (GDM). Instead, if I logout and recursively remove the contents of ~/.config/gnome-session/, and login after that, the Gnome shell starts. But afetr the next logout/login the problem reappears. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Gnome 3.0 from GDM 2. (started Empathy, but this probably does not have any effect here) 3. Logout from the Gnome Shell 4. Login to Gnome again Actual Results: Empty Gnome background on the screen without any Gnome shell elements. Expected Results: the Gnome shell starting again, along with the applications that were shut down during the last logout. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
