https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=686443 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=686443#c0 Summary: NetworkManager applet runs while NetworkManager is deactivated Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.4 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: timshel@rocketmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 The NetworkManager gets deactivated during installation if no WLAN is present but the NetworkManager plasmoid in KDE and probably the counterpart in Gnome is running and shows a warning error symbol and if you click on it and try to activate the network it is not possible. The network is actually working with DHCP but it doesn't look like it from the gui. This looks like a bug and can only be fixed through activating NM in Yast but how should a new user know that? So the solution is either to enable NetworkManager all the time in desktop openSUSE or make sure that the applet doesn't run amok if NM is disabled. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install with th KDE Live CD or DVD installation 2. Make sure you don't have any WLAN card 3. check the NM symbol after installation in systray Actual Results: The NM applet shows an error and it is impossible to activate the network there. Expected Results: There shouldn't be any NM applet running or it should be possible to enable NM there. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
