https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679780 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679780#c0 Summary: Device mapper doesn't create files in /dev during partition creation Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: asn@cryptomilk.org QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 I had a hard time creating partitions on my hardware RAID1 system. I have a SSD disk for /boot and / and a RAID1 for the rest. I had trouble creating everything during the installation. So I've just installed the base system on the SSD and doing everything afterwards. So the partitioner in YaST as able to create the partition but not to format it. I've looked a around and found out that it didn't create the devices in /dev. It is was looking for /dev/mapper/isw_cgbcchhgeb_Volume0_part2 which is a symlink to /dev/dm-2. But the symlink and /dev/dm-2 didn't exist. After a reboot both are there and I was able to format the partition and set it up. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use a host with a normal harddisk or SSD and a RAID1 2. Use the single disk for /boot and / 3. Use the RAID1 for swap, var and an encrypted home partition -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
