https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679130 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=679130#c0 Summary: nv driver missing - GeForce FX 5200 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: axel.braun@gmx.de QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b12) Gecko/20110222 Firefox/4.0b12 I upgraded a nice running 11.3 system to 11.4 The system was using the nv-driver for the GeForce FX 5200 in 1280x1024 resolution, with a configuration stored in xorg.conf. The nv-driver seems not to be shipped any longer, so the system failed to start the x-System. Renaming xorg.conf forced the system to use the nouveau-driver, offering a max resolution of 1024x768 - no chance to to get the original resolution back. As well the nouveau driver switched the sync, So I get a black screen every few seconds (I have a Sony Multiscan 17se Monitor) Installing the fglrx-drivers leaves me with a resolution of 640x480. Wow. And it freezes every now and then. Any idea to fix this?
