This bug is in 11.4 too.
Workaround (in /boot/grub/menu.lst) add :
nomodeset
to the boot options.
But You muts not switch to console (<ctrl><alt>F1 ...), as the screen
will soon turn to black. But you may reboot...
Add:
nomodeset brokenmodule=i910
and you can switch etc.
By the way: Same with (l)Ubuntu
But I do not have a rs232 line any longer, to debug...
This bug seems to affect only the Samsung Q10?!
Or all Intel-830-M-Grafikchips?
And this machine just turned 9 years :-;
