https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675392 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=675392#c0 Summary: git-core rpm has broken Git's web--browse capability due to missing link to doc directory Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: blaine.simpson@admc.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 SUSE/3.6.13-0.2.1 Firefox/3.6.13 I'm not sure that this should be reported here. I am reporting here because the rpm comes from the base OpenSUSE repository and RPM lists "http://bugs.opensuse.org" as the "Packager" (and that page sent me here). After configuring Git to use web help, according to Git documentation and as normally works, Git help commands all fail with the message: fatal: '/usr/share/doc/git-doc': not a documentation directory. The workaround is to create the sym-link to the relevant doc directory bundled in the git-core rpm: beyla# pwd /usr/share/doc beyla# ln -s packages/git-core git-doc Please add this sym link to the RPM or otherwise fix web--browse. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install the git-core rpm (no difference if installed by base OS installation, rpm, yast2 or whatever). Remaining steps can be done as any shell user who has normal privileges and a writable home directory. 2.Enable Git's web--browse feature for Git help (for current user): git config --global help.format web 3.Run any Git help command. For example: git help commit Actual Results: fatal: '/usr/share/doc/git-doc': not a documentation directory. Expected Results: Should display help documentation in an existing browser tab or in a new browser window. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
