https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668356 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=668356#c0 Summary: KDE lacking dependency on xdg-* utils Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: All OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: abrouwers@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.99 Safari/533.4 While experimenting with the M6 net install last night, I took the opportunity to remove some un-wanted applications from the installer. I basically started with KDE base applications, and added a few additional applications. In doing so, I must have removed xdg-utils (specifically, the -menu). After rebooting, the system came up very nicely without any error. However, after clicking the menu, I noticed that none of my applications were present, and only given the "Favorites," "Run," and the "Log Out" entries. I could launch krunner and start konsole or other applications normally. I'm not sure where the dependency should go, but it doesn't seem like one should be able to remove this package when selecting some KDE components; it's a very minimal dep, and when the user does omit it, it's *very* unclear as to how to fix it to the common user IMO. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Perform net install of openSUSE 2. Select KDE components 3. Un-select entry for xdg-menu + xdg-utils -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
