--- Comment #8 from Mindaugas Baranauskas 2011-01-22 11:29:46 UTC ---
This exist in openSUSE 11.4 milestone 5:
I installed openSUSE with English locale and keyboard. Then I with yast swithed
my system's language to Lithuanian. By YaST system keyboard layout module
selected Lithuanian keyboard. But if I went to console by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1
and try to write Lithuanian letters (ą, č, ę...), I see incorrect symbols.
Solution:
go to /etc/sysconfig/console and manually set:
CONSOLE_FONT="lat4-16"
CONSOLE_SCREENMAP="8859-13"
By default there were these wrong parameters for Lithuanian:
CONSOLE_FONT="lat9w-16"
CONSOLE_SCREENMAP="trivial"
I tryied to remove same values from /etc/sysconfig/console and
/etc/sysconfig/keyboard, and I found, that YaST keyboard module don't handle
CONSOLE_SCREENMAP variable.
Besides, then I make mistake by changing console keyboard (I writen lt.std.gz
instead of lt.std.map), after reboot I saw, that it tried to fallback to
lt.baltic.map with assuming 8859-4 (but correct is 8859-13).
