Instead of reviving the microcode_ctl service I have another idea.
It's a really ugly hack, but imo better fits that late:
- Remove the not functional udev rule:
/lib/udev/rules.d/89-microcode.rules
- Add a tiny /proc/cpuinfo parser to boot.udev service and do:
if (Intel)
modprobe microcode
microcode_ctl -Qu
else if (AMD and family >= 0x10)
modprobe microcode
fi
That would avoid the microcode_ctl service which should die soon anyway.
microcode patching must be done after boot.udev run and this one should be
available on all installations, thus would fit for this hack.
Kay: Do you mind if I add it?
