https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=661409 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=661409#c0 Summary: Kernel panic if openSUSE 11.4MS6 (build0957) is installed with USB devices attached Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.4 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: M.Peters40@kpnplanet.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=406244) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=406244) both pictures taken from situtations described above User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b7) Gecko/20101105 Firefox/4.0b7 SYSTEM: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.41GHz, Memory: 4GB, Graphics hardware: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series, device ID 9442, memory size 1024 MB I did a standard KDE installation of 11.4MS6 (openSUSE-DVD-Build0957-x86_64.iso) Verified ISO on dvd before installation (= good) System failed to start and hangs with a kernel panic. Only hard reset brings life in the system. See attachment for screenshot_1 (with camera!) During installation one USB HD (western digital ELEMENTS - 500GB) and the USB connected printer (HP C5180) had power on. After only removing the USB HD, I had the same results. After turning off the power from the USB printer, and a new install the system hanged after the HAL daemon (see screenshot_2) After a hard reset the system boots correct and finished the installation. Then i can use the system (and can confirm bug 659017, as normal user and as root the widgets on the taskbar don't work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to install with (living) USB device's attached. 2. 3. Actual Results: Kernel panic Expected Results: Finished the installation -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
