https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=659164 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=659164#c0 Summary: Safely remove does not unmount device cleanly Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jon.l.cosby@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.12) Gecko/20101026 SUSE/3.6.12-0.7.1 Firefox/3.6.12 In GNOME 2.32, the unmount option has been replaced with "Safely Remove" in the context menu for mounted USB devices. This option does not unmount the device cleanly, rather the device is remounted before being physically removed. I'm experiencing this with some thumb drives and with a Sansa Clip music player with a flash card extension. The Clip is a fat32 file system, as are the thumb drives. "Eject" seems to work, and safely remove works on the second attempt. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Plug in USB drive 2. Right-click desktop icon for USB drive 3. Choose "Safely remove" Actual Results: Desktop icon briefly removed, then returns and drive still mounted Expected Results: Drive should be unmounted and icon should be removed -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
