I do own a ATI RV710/RV730 Graphic Chipset, therefore radeonhd is used.
No. By default radeon is used for this GPU. Unless you manually configured it differently.
Unluckily for me the KMS is enabled by default.
In that case radeonhd would fail. So that can't be.
/etc/sysconfig/kernel has the following syntax out of the box: NO_KMS_IN_INITRD="yes"
Sometimes GDM loads, but then explodes. Lots of errors on xorg logs trying to load imaginary fglrx drivers and can't draw objects on screen.
That doesn't matter. The priority is: 1. fglrx (which fails non-fatal if doesn't exist) 2. radeonhd (which fails non-fatal when KMS is enabled) 3. radeon
This behavior can be neutralized by adding the 'nomodeset' to kernel init line. If such action is taken, the system operates as expect.
In that case you're using radeonhd driver. My guess is that radeon/KMS doesn't work for you. Could you attach the logfile /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old with all the errors you mentioned before? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
