https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655895 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655895#c0 Summary: Impossible to use disks when dm-raid driver thinks the disk in in an array Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andrew@joako.net QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.7 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/7.0.517.44 Safari/534.7 Attempting to install openSUSE 11.3 to a SATA disk that was previously used in an Adapatec real RAID controller. The disk was removed from the controller without deleting the array. openSUSE installer (and dmraid tool) refuse to do anything with this disk. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Remove disk from Adaptec 2610SA real RAID controller and setup disk directly to non-RAID SATA controller 2. Attempt to delete all partitions and install openSUSE Actual Results: openSUSE installer detects the disk as dmraid since the format the Adapatec controller uses is probably the same or similar to dmraid, understandable. But otherwise it's not possible to use this disk. Expected Results: A warning and a way to reuse the disk without having to write zeros to the ENTIRE drive when it's not needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
