Thanks for having a look.
Maybe I'm misinterpreting something, but it seems to me that "GeoIP-devel" -is-
available in the build system. And that package requires the "GeoIP" package
(which I can't influence).
The GeoIP package in Apache:MirrorBrain is actually older by version number
(1.4.6), because Fedora has a patched CVS version in all its distribution
(1.4.7-cvs-something). Therefore, it doesn't immediately help if I build and
provide the GeoIP package myself. I actually tried that (before I knew more),
but it doesn't help, because the build service prefers the Fedora GeoIP-devel
over mine, because it is newer.
It may be possible to configure the buildservice to prefer my GeoIP package,
but then it means that Fedora users have to downgrade their package, which will
probably cause confusion and be unwanted anyway...
What I don't quite understand is how the devel package can be among the Fedora
packages available for building, but not the GeoIP package. I would expect
either both be present, or only the non-devel package - or none at all - since
there is a requirement from the devel package to the main package.
Naive question: I see there is
http://mirror.fraunhofer.de/download.fedora.redhat.com/fedora/linux/releases...
which should be just what's missing. Don't know if that is Fedora Core, but it
looks to me like it's in the normal package pool.
