https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642681 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=642681#c0 Summary: whois command broken for .de domains Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: puzel@novell.com ReportedBy: suse-beta@cboltz.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Blocker: --- The "whois" command is broken for .de domains since some time on at least openSUSE 11.2 and 11.3. # whois cboltz.de % Error: 55000000013 Invalid charset for response I use 'de_DE@euro' for $LANG and $LC_*. However, for historic reasons I use a script that always specifies the charset when querying for .de domains. With a charset specified: # whois -- "-Tdn -CISO-8859-1" cboltz.de % Error: 55000000007 Request not clearly specified I use whois on 11.2 regularly (with the charset given) and it always worked. The breakage is probably caused by some recent changes done by DENIC (on 2010-09-21 according to the DENIC frontpage), see http://www.denic.de/en/background/whois-service/changes-within-public-whois.... This page lists the "Request not clearly specified" error message - it is caused by a failed plausability check on the query. Please provide a fixed whois (or at last a good workaround ;-) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
