So it is definitely the 'mount' system call.

OK, try again please, (without the 'strace') and while the umount.nfs is
hanging, in another window

ps axgu | grep umount.nfs

to find the pid of the umount process. So if it show e.g.

root 4831 0.0 0.0 15044 1184 pts/3 S+ 13:41 0:00
/sbin/umount.nfs /mnt/2 -v

Then that second column is the pid.

Then report the contents of /proc/$PID/stack
e.g. in this case it would be

cat /proc/4831/stack
