Thanks for you answer.
*Overview*
(A) I have no more problems now.
(B) If this would help, I will try to reproduce the fail function again and
before that to restore the not functioning configuration. Should I?
*Detailed*
(A)
(1) I did test the same page
( http://www.wdr.de/tv/home/videopodcast/vodcast.jsp with
http://medien.wdr.de/download/1284282000/maus/wdr_fernsehen_die_maus_2010091...
) with Opera (Opera Web Browser 10.61 (build 6430) - 10.61-0.1.1 (i586)).
Opera did try to give the file to vlc and vlc fails. But in contrast to Firefox
3.6.9 I could use Opera further and nothing freezing.
(2) As I saw it only afterwards in my Software Manager - I upgraded to Mozilla
Firefox 3.6.10. That version does not freeze but did not play ether (equal
behavior like Opera 10.61).
(3) I did look at my vlc packages and saw that I had it accidentally upgraded
to the testing version (vlc 1.1.4-2.pm.6.4 ?).
So I downgraded vlc back to 1.0.5-1.pm.3.20 and according vlc
depending/depended packages including vlc-mozillapluging 1.0.5-1.pm.3.20 .
(4) After the steps (A 2-3) my firefox did not freeze again in the scenario
equal to (A 1) and did also play the mp4-file.
(B)
Firefox 3.6.9 's handling of false functions initiated by other programs /
packages seems to me not optimal. If helpful I would try to reproduce the
freezing (loop?) again. But I do not know if that is still wanted. Maybe there
will be a jump directly to 3.6.10 in the main update repositories? Still
"NEEDINFO"?
