"You don't need to actively log in, but if you are logged in into another
opensuse site eg buildservice, hermes etc you get logged into the wiki
automatically when visiting it. I think that happens more often then wiki edits
and redirecting those users who just want to look up some documentation to the
email validation page would annoy them."
Fair enough, but it seems like a tradeoff needs to be made somewhere. The most
efficient and foolproof way of blocking unvalidated users is to never allow
them to log into the wiki. However, people are going to want to know why they
aren't being logged in, especially the editors. I agree it might be annoying
for users who are logged in but don't care about editing the wiki, but the
script sets a session variable so that it only happens once each browser
session. Considering that most sites don't allow you to use your account at
all before you validate your email, I don't see this as being too overbearing.
"Agree, message must show up only if user did not validated his email, after
validation never."
Yes, the changes I made to the login script on stage do exactly that.
"Five years ago, when I wanted to edit wiki I got to validate my email first.
So, it was as you are establishing now."
That's interesting, I wonder what happened. Like I mentioned before, it must
have changed at least a couple of years ago.
