http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=626122 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=626122#c0 Summary: device mapper error when mounting LUKS partition (with pam_mount) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bugreports@tittel.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Firefox/3.6.6 I am using pam_mount to decrypt and mount my LUKS-encrypted home partition on login. To make that happen I added the following line to pam_mount.conf.xml: <volume options="noatime,user_xattr,acl" user="tittel" mountpoint="/home/tittel" path="/dev/sda8" fstype="crypt"/> Also I added "auth optional pam_mount.so" to the last line of /etc/pam.d/common-auth-pc and "session optional pam_mount.so" to the last line of /etc/pam.d/common-session-pc to activate pam_mount. Quite often (but not always) when I login as "tittel" I receive the following error message from pam_mount: pam_mount(mount.c:64): Errors from underlying mount program: pam_mount(mount.c:68): device-mapper: remove ioctl failed: Device or resource busy In the background cryptsetup (or pam_mount) seems to retry the decryption and mounting process, so in the end decryption and mounting is successful. However, it is supposed to work on the first attempt (and it did work on first attempt on openSUSE versions 11.2 and earlier) and I am unsure about possible side-effects of this problem. It seems to me that this problem is not limited to pam_mount, but a general problem of mounting LUKS-partitions with cryptsetup. This bug is probably identical to these bugs at the Debian and Red Hat bugtracker: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=%20586286 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=613909 Thanks in advance for looking into this!
