http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625923 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=625923#c0 Summary: Memory Leak in X.org Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: marcel@hilzinger.hu QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100626 SUSE/3.6.6-1.2 Firefox/3.6.6 OpenSuse 11.3 seems to suffer from a memory leak in the X.org server. The system is still usable, so no freeze (yet) here, but if I want to start a network connection, I got the following error: linux-jmba:/home/marcel # dhclient eth0 RTNETLINK answers: Cannot allocate memory Memory usage after some hours is: marcel@linux-jmba:~> grep "object bytes" /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/gem_objects 109289472 object bytes and steadily increasing. The problem is always reproducable after a suspend-to-RAM. After wakeup, there is no free memory left. Actual state is: marcel@linux-jmba:~> free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 770828 658908 111920 0 31988 432884 -/+ buffers/cache: 194036 576792 Swap: 2104476 0 2104476 After a suspend-to-RAM this will look like this: marcel@linux-jmba:~> free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 770828 758908 11920 0 31988 432884 -/+ buffers/cache: 194036 576792 And the system starts to swap. If I switch to runlevel 3, then free tells me, that only 500 MByte RAM is used, but after switching back witch init 5 all RAM is used, so the graphics driver seems to keep the memory... lspci -v01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd.
