http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=619738 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=619738#c0 Summary: Hard lockup on boot - Thinkpad x100e Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mdoerner1@cox.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100405 Firefox/3.6.3 (Swiftfox) Unless the parameter "acpi=off" is passed to the kernel at boot, OpenSUSE 11.3 RC1/RC2 locks up right after the hard drive is checked for errors (at scanning for devices?). This did not occur on Milestone 7. I can boot in failsafe mode under RC2. This bug appeared in 11.3 RC1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install 2.Boot 3.System freezes within 20 seconds Actual Results: ACPI=off at boot time eliminates the problem, but the keyboard is overly sensitive (i.e. I get 3-4 characters with every keyboard stroke) Expected Results: After I passed ACPI=off at boot time, I was able to get into KDE. However, this along with the keyboard issues made me switch back to 11.2. This bug causes a hard lockup upon boot, prior to getting into the KDE X-Windows mamanger. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
