http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=598927 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=598927#c0 Summary: iscsitarget vs. tgt (and /etc/ietd.conf) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: koenig@linux.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- trying to setup an iscsi server (target) with suse 11.1 seems to be a bit difficult to me ?! zypper install iscsitarget installed "tgt" and not "iscsitarget" (why?????, now can I avoid this) which doesn't seem to work well: # /usr/sbin/tgtd (null): fcoe_init(214) (null) (null): fcoe_create_interface(171) no interface specified. also see this thread which states "by the way, the problem still exists in openSUSE 11.2" (March 10), haven't tried 11.2 for this myself: http://forums.opensuse.org/get-help-here/applications/434400-problem-tgt.htm... BUT the real iscsitarget. rpm worked fine for me after rpm -e tgt rpm -ihv 11.1/oss/suse/x86_64/iscsitarget-0.4.15-89.8.x86_64.rpm iscsi targets were configured using "yast2 iscsi-server" and emacs, e.g. echo foo >> /etc/ietd.conf some nights later our automatic cron update script run zypper -n update ... which caused the following happen: Loading repository data... Reading installed packages... ==> The following NEW package is going to be installed: tgt ==> The following package is going to be REMOVED: iscsitarget Overall download size: 131.0 K. After the operation, additional 207.0 K will be used. Continue? [YES/no]: yes Retrieving package tgt-0.9.0-1.18.x86_64 (1/1), 131.0 K (324.0 K unpacked) Retrieving: tgt-0.9.0-1.18.x86_64.rpm [done] Installing: tgt-0.9.0-1.18 [done] Additional rpm output: ==> warning: /etc/ietd.conf saved as /etc/ietd.conf.rpmsave so the running setup got completely broken (iscsitarget replaced by non-working tgt and /etc/ietd.conf got (re)moved :-((( many open questions on this: why tgt vs. iscsitarget ??? what's the problem with tgt ? yast2-iscsi-server only seems to work with/for iscsitarget, not for tgt ?!? how can I avoid this in the future for now I'm using "zypper addlock tgt" but I consider this an ugly workaround for a nasty problem which should be fixed elsewhere! -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
