I did some tests with a boot partition.
I created:
/dev/sda1 swap 1,5GB
/dev/sda2 /boot 70MB
/dev/sda3 / 140GB
openSUSE 11.3 can boot that
then I created:
/dev/sda1 swap 1,5GB
/dev/sda2 / 140GB
/dev/sda3 /boot 70MB
openSUSE 11.3 can not boot and grub is throwing an "Error 17". That's new
because if I only create a huge "/" partition, I don't see "Error 17" but it
can't boot either (see comment #17).
SLES11 SP1 can boot both partitioning schemes on the same machine.
