http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=595582 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=595582#c0 Summary: Kernel oops using a Webcam with V4L2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Werner.Dittmann@t-online.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=353609) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=353609) Dump of message containing the oops backtrace User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100204 SUSE/3.5.8-0.1.1 Firefox/3.5.8 I'm using a communication (SIP Communicator test version) program that supports video communication. When I use this program it detects the web cam (Philips, vendor id: 0x0471, Product id: 0x2036) but it doesn't work. Instead I get a kernel oops. Message dump is attached, it reports the uvc driver in the stack back trace. Using the cam with luvcview works, thus the communication program seems to handle the camera in a wrong way. However, that should not result in a kernel oops :-) . Because this is the first oops I'm reporting I hope the information I provide is good enough. Otherwise just ask and I try to reproduce the problem (I did it twice already) and gather more info. I also looked at the uvc driver site (Berlios) but couldn't find an issue tracker there, thus I hope you can forward this report to the right group/person Regards, Werner Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Only possible if I use a specific version of SIP communicator 2. Just start, enable Web cam. 3. Kernel oops happens Actual Results: Program hangs, cannot kill it (tried kill -9 also), need to reboot to clean up. Expected Results: The program should either show a video stream or report an error in case some parameters to a system call are wrong. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
