Summary: DVB-T stopped working on 1 multiplex
Classification: openSUSE
Product: openSUSE 11.2
Version: Final
Platform: i386
OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Kernel
AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReportedBy: linux@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
QAContact: qa@xxxxxxx
Found By: ---
Blocker: ---

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.2.3)
Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3

I've been running 2 DVB-T tuners (Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-T usb sticks) for the
past 2-3 years with no problems. I just did an update (including kernel
2.6.31.12-0.2) followed by a machine shutdown and cold boot. Since that point I
can no longer record one of the broadcast multiplexes (we have 6 in our area of
the UK).

I have reproduced this with both my own software and Kaffeine. I have connected
the usb stick (with exactly the same antenna cable) into a Windows laptop and
can successfully see all programs, so I know that all of the harwdare is
working correctly.

The list of multiplexes I see are:

TSID frequency mod crh crl gi h bw tr netid
Records
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
4107 578000000 16 34 34 32 0 8 2 12296 OK - all
programs
8199 850000000 64 23 12 32 0 8 2 12296 FAIL - no
programs
12290 713833000 64 23 12 32 0 8 2 12296 OK - all
programs
16384 721833000 16 34 34 32 0 8 2 12296 OK - all
programs
20480 690000000 16 34 34 32 0 8 2 12296 OK - all
programs
24576 538000000 16 34 34 32 0 8 2 12296 OK - all
programs

mod = modulation
crh = code_rate_high
crl = code_rate_low
gi = guard_interval
h = hierarchy
bw = bandwidth
tr = transmission

Only multiplex 8199 is affected. It is interesting that multiplex 12290 has
identical modulation but is just at a different frequency, and that records
with no problems. It is also interesting that multiplex 8199 has the highest
frequency of 850000000 Hz. Has something been changed that makes this frequency
invalid/different?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run a frequency scan using Kaffeine in UK (Oxford) region
2. Check to see if the ITV multiplex is present (i.e. any ITV programs have
been found)
3.
Actual Results:
All of the other 5 multiplexes are found (i.e. their programs are present);
multiplex 8199 is not found.

Expected Results:
I expect to see the following channels available (provided by this multiplex):

TSID 8199
.....................................................................................................................
3 | ITV1 | 8199-8263 | tv | video=520

This may not be serious for most people, but I rely on my Linux box to record
all my TV - and this multiplex has my most recorded programs. I'm getting grief
from my wife that she's missing her favourite programs, so it's serious for me!
