I just want to ask you if it is possible to upgrade rsyslog from the OpenSuSE 11.2 one (old 4.4.1) to the latest 4.x one (4.6.1).
Same as in bug 590348 -- no version upgrade without a very strong reason and ACK from Mr Maintenance <maintenance at opensuse.org>. When there are fixes required for a released version, please report them more exactly. The rsyslog changelog is often confusing (me). I keep this bug open for 11.2 for now and will review the changes / sources as soon as the time permits. On Factory/11.3, I'll update to the most recent stable version of course -- as soon as I've the time to do it. You can also branch the package, upgrade and create a submit request.
There are many bug fixes to exclude it from being uploaded in the updates or, at least, in the build service related repositories, such as (it doesn't exist yet): http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/server:/rsyslog
