--- Comment #3 from Carlo Strata 2010-03-25 12:09:37 UTC ---
I recently add three posts in "our" bugzilla:
- Bug 590328, suggested update of forgotten (!!!) rsyslog packages (4.4.1
instead of 4.6.1 of the same 4.x series (!), that is not an important and not
deeply different new release, that however exists and is already stable too,
but and then need to be updated!!!)
- Bug 590333, suggested useful and opensource web interface for rsyslog
(phpLogCon) (likewise freeradius dialupadmin is for freeradius), but hasn't yet
get an answer, like I didn't imagine, of course... I don't yet discovered and
verified if is already packaged in current rsyslog packages, but I don't think
so...
- Bug 590348, this "bug", in which I focus both (!!!) the little OpenSuSE 11.2
current version (2.0.9) update (2.0.10) and the newer syslog-ng stable branches
(2.1.x and 3.0.x)
I think my help to you can also be given sometime posting these both little and
bigger packages updates so you can take a decision for all current (!) version
users. There are many packages so I can guess that all following is difficult
to realize/pursue.
I also think one of bigger OpenSuSE power is living in the build service
(repositories).
So you can decide not to upgrade main stream (via base "update" repo), but
building new and bug fixing (!!!) release in the build service. I love it in
this mean...
This is the case, e.g., of OpenVPN packages that are base updated to 2.1.0, but
build service ones are up-to-date to the stable, and more useful, 2.1.1 final
release.
Keep in mind that I want to help, not to create troubles.
In the recent past I wake up Ghostscript packages (Bug 510324) tha were
sleeping too much (we were loosing more than 300 bug fixes!) and more recently
freeradius packages (Bug 586377) from 2.1.6 to 2.1.8 (bug fixing with some new
functionality release).
This is what I mean and why I create this three posts and future ones.
What do you think about?
Have a sunny day,
Carlo
