It crashed again, even without the cronjob.
heres the last section of /var/log/messages into the reboot:

as you can see not much there. there are no cronjobs or anything else at 7:29

/var/crash is empty.
kdump keeps deactivating itself.
I go into yast, enable it, and by the time I exit, it's turned itself off,
regardless of how I set it or save settings or anything.
in fact, I can go into yast, enable it, cursor to the next section in kdump and
cursor back and its OFF already!
I can also go in, enable it, click ok, which takes me out, then go back in, and
it's OFF already (again).
dump on 11.2 doesn't seem to be working properly.
and so far no one has any idea why an ftp would cause a tty dereference.
or why, now that the ftp is disabled, why it's still happening...
