http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=583150 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=583150#c0 Summary: "yast2 clone_system" triggers unexpected package installations Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: AutoYaST AssignedTo: ug@novell.com ReportedBy: jsmeix@novell.com QAContact: qa@suse.de CC: mzugec@novell.com Found By: Development Blocker: --- See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=582680#c4 I called "yast2 clone_system" on my running system (a openSUSE 11.1 default system with only some update packages regarding printing). "yast2 clone_system" asks for whatever strange packages to be installed (I remember some iSCSI related package) and additionally it launches whatever strange package install dialog which I do not want.
From my point of view "clone an existing system" should not change the existing system before by installing whatever strange packages.
But I am not at all a user of "clone_system". I just hit the issue because I called "yast2 clone_system" while I tried to reproduce bug #582680. I guess the root cause is that whatever AutoYaST clients for autoinstallation (probably *_auto.ycp files like e.g. iscsi-client/src/iscsi-client_auto.ycp) are not properly fail safe implemented and trigger whatever strange packages to be installed in any case regardless if on the particular system the particular stuff (e.g iSCSI) is used at all. I.e. perhaps some AutoYaST clients should better just do nothing when packages are not installed which they need because when such packages are missing, it may indicate that on the particular system the particular stuff is not used. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
