--- Comment #10 from Thomas Rother 2009-12-29 14:31:02 UTC ---
I have the same issue here. The UI steps:
1. start TB 3 (from /usr/bin/thunderbird)
2. Answer the request for the TB-internal security module password
3. TB crashes
The strace listing:
------------------
open("/usr/share/locale/de.utf8/LC_MESSAGES/libc.mo", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No
such file or directory)
open("/usr/share/locale-bundle/de.utf8/LC_MESSAGES/libc.mo", O_RDONLY) = -1
ENOENT (No such file or directory)
open("/usr/share/locale-langpack/de/LC_MESSAGES/libc.mo", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT
(No such file or directory)
open("/usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/libc.mo", O_RDONLY) = 3
fstat(3, {st_mode=S_IFREG|0644, st_size=123193, ...}) = 0
mmap(NULL, 123193, PROT_READ, MAP_PRIVATE, 3, 0) = 0x7f27f7dbe000
close(3) = 0
write(2, "/usr/bin/thunderbird: Zeile 130:"..., 81/usr/bin/thunderbird: Zeile
130: 15681 Speicherzugriffsfehler $MOZ_PROGRAM "$@"
) = 81
------------------
Similar errors from the command at line 130 have been reported on the net
earlier, for example:
http://www.tuxgalaxy.de/portal/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=39:opensuse-speicherzugriffsfehler-beim-starten-von-thunderbird&catid=22:tipps-und-tricks&Itemid=65
and
http://forums.opensuse.org/applications/429617-thunderbird-3-crashes-wit-seg...
(I don't think the latter is ldap related)
I see this error with the standard TB 3.0b4 _x64 package (as delivered) and
also with the latest OBS version 3.0.0-16.1. A ... -safe-mode start doesn't
help either so there is no connection to add-ons and themes. BUT: If I install
a download package directly from mozilla.com into /opt/thunderbird/ (maybe this
one is 32bit?) and start thunderbird with the shell script as provided by
mozilla.com, I have NO crashes.
I believe the error is related to the startup script, not to TB 3 itself.
