The multiple instances of mplayer being launched appear to be caused by the "places" preview thumbnail/player Disabling the "Places" preview in Dolphin corrects the problem For normal play usually have two instances of mplayer in system monitor wih only one showing cpu usage. With "Places" enabled have approx six instances of mplayer with five showing cpu usage.
