http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561984 http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561984#c0 Summary: YaST Qt doesn't start in a KDE session which was initialized by gdm Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: SLED 11 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nice@titanic.nyme.hu QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; hu-HU; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091103 SUSE/3.5.5-1.1.2 Firefox/3.5.5 I installed SLES11 with KDE, because SLES' Gnome (unlike openSUSE 11.2's Gnome) simply does not work with Nomachine's NX server, which I had to install because SLES' Xvnc service ignores the Caps Lock key. After reinstalling SLES 11 with KDE I had to realize thad Xvnc doesn't work with kdm because of some error (XDMCP fatal error: Session declined No valid address), so I installed gdm on top of KDE by issuing 'zypper install gdm', but I had to realize that a gdm started KDE session's only choice of YaST is the ncurses UI. So please: -Fix Xvnc to handle Caps lock -Fix kdm and xdm to be able to handled by Xvnc -Fix KDE (or gdm) to make it possible to run YaST Qt from a gdm initialized KDE session. -Optionally fix Gnome to be able to run from Nomachine's NX If you need bugreports please tell me how to do that for SLES 11. (I made more than a hundred reports for openSUSE, before purchasing 100 SLES licenses and realizing that it's not more usable than openSUSE. Now I'm totally fed up.)
