I have similar problems.
If I try sax2 my installation of opensuse 11.2 hangs. I can start the x server
using an old xorg.conf file (from opensuse 11.1) but after some time (can be
minutes or hours) the system hangs. Sometimes I can login via ssh from another
host (switching to a console is not possible: mouse moving OK but no reactions
to mouse keys and keyboard) but I can't restart the x server.
If I do an 'init 3' the monitor still shows the kde screen. Even 'shutdown -h'
can not restart the system ... it hangs! Only a hard resets (reboot) gets me
back to a working system (opensuse 11.1). At the moment I'm using this version
to work ...
System: DELL Optiplex SX260 (Intel 845G)
Installation: opensuse 11.1 and 11.2; basic xorg (no compiz!)
If you have a request for a log file / debugging output I can try to provide
the information.
