i remember my first testings and looking at the logfiles from that other bug
report from the other hd3200 based mainboard. i think i even asked in the
progress of the bugreport why there were some DVI loglines saying that VGA port
was disconnected and DVI connected or such things.
i try not to fool myself or others when hunting bugs and trying to get behind
things, so i definitely never had anything else connected than just the vga
cable, as i mainly use this kvm switch, which can do vga signaly and usb
peripherals only.
so i found some DVI-D (digital only pinout) cable, and this flatpanel also has
DVI-D port on its backside.
i completely unplugged the vga cable on the backside of the monitor (its
detachable), and disconnected the vga cable also from the mainboards vga
connector.
i then connected the DVI-D cable to the also DVI-D port of the mainboard.
i booted the mainboard, and watched the screen the whole time.
opensuse 11.2 came up (i set runlevel3 as default).
then i used the minimal-a and minimal-b xorg.conf files.
the xserver screen was always visible at the native resolution at
1680x1050@60Hz, with both config files, and right now i am an minimal-b inside
runlevel5 in kde writing these lines.
will attach the logs now.
