According to Kdevelop maintainers, these crashes are caused by a glibc bug (http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10282). According to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=509398, the glibc bug should have been fixed in openSUSE 11.2. But it clearly hasn't - as we are still getting malloc-related crashes.
