I can see from your wpa_supplicant log that the driver was not able to
associate with the AP [1]. You mentioned that you had updated the firmware.
Would it be possible to check the firmware first [2] ? You can also check the
/var/log/messages [3]. I have tested the Intel 4965 [4] adapter and was able to
connect with the Netgear wg602 v4 with ifup/ifdown in openSUSE 11.2. To isolate
the problem could you switch the NetworkManager off, configure your wlan in the
Yast configuration and try to connect with ifup/ifdown ? If there are still
problems proceed according the guide "Tracking down wireless problems".
