Today, I had a black screen on resume and I acidentially disconnected the power
cord while it was black. This made the screelock appear, and I could login and
work normally.
Re-inserting AC power blackens the screen, pulling the plug shows it again.
A brief KDE notice provided the relevant hint.
It said "Compositing has been suspended by another application, you can resume
it by using the ALT-SHIFT-F12 shortcut"
Pressing ALT-SHIFT-F12 also blackens the screen.
now I have a workaround:
GeckoHead -> Configure Desktop
-> General Desktop
-> General
[ ] Enable desktop effects
# must not be checked!
Compositing is disabled
-> apply
No Idea what compositing is meant to be. For me it is obviously harmful.
