http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=551641 Summary: Kernel thinks it has Transmeta CPU instead of Intel and shows only one instead of two CPU-cores Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: RC 2 Platform: HP OS/Version: openSUSE 11.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: henk.vanvelden@xs4all.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/3.5; Linux) KHTML/3.5.10 (like Gecko) SUSE Found this looking at the My Computer page: only one CPU found. This is of course based on Kernel information, so I started looking at /proc/cpuinfo (see below). Also at dmesg. See that at one point a Transmeta CPU is mentioned, but at many other places Intel. I can not of course start using 11.2 with only half my CPU capacity. As this is a normal vendor (HP) system I suspect more people having this (but maybe not looking thouroughly at the My Computer page). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Boot 2.look at dmesg | grep CPU and cat /proc/cpuinfo 3. Actual Results: dmesg | grep CPU: [ 0.000000] Transmeta TransmetaCPU [ 0.000000] Processor #0 (Bootup-CPU) [ 0.000000] SMP: Allowing 2 CPUs, 0 hotplug CPUs [ 0.000000] NR_CPUS:128 nr_cpumask_bits:128 nr_cpu_ids:2 nr_node_ids:8 [ 0.000000] PERCPU: Embedded 14 pages at c1a25000, static data 34204 bytes [ 0.000000] Initializing CPU#0 [ 0.032061] CPU: L1 I cache: 32K, L1 D cache: 32K [ 0.032065] CPU: L2 cache: 1024K [ 0.032069] CPU: Physical Processor ID: 0 [ 0.032071] CPU: Processor Core ID: 0 [ 0.032076] mce: CPU supports 6 MCE banks [ 0.032087] CPU0: Thermal monitoring enabled (TM2) [ 0.052039] Brought up 1 CPUs [ 0.052089] CPU0 attaching NULL sched-domain.
